Credibility of News Articles

I believe that News Article Sources can be very misleading as to whether or not they are being truthful or simply biased. One way to tell if the source is credible, is to use a very well known and reputable source. Another way to tell is to use a source that the web domain ends in something reputable, like, ".gov" or ".edu".

I believe it is very important to stay up to date with what is going on in the world, or around you. Gathering that information though is something that you have to read upon yourself. When searching for things to stay up to date, a lot of the articles or blogs you read can be biased. A good way to tell if an article is biased is if the article tends to talk about one side of the issue. However, a good way to tell if a source is unbiased is if the source discusses multiple sides or arguments of an issue.

How do you feel about the credibility of Online news article sources?

  2. Nick-
    Good post, thanks!
I would tend to disagree with you about trusting domains ending in .edu because college campuses are coming under increasing fire for their blatant lack of tolerance for viewpoints not consistent with their own. However, I think you're on the right track in terms of finding sites that will at least look at both sides of an issue--whether they do so fairly is another story, but at least it gets you closer to the core of the issue than sites that openly push their agenda.
